The French called the tomato the pomme d’amour, or the Love Apple, as they believed that the exotic tomato had aphrodisiac powers – which makes it rather apt to include on your Valentine’s Day menu!
From the Simple Soups series, printmaker Kate Guy has conveniently assembled and illustrated all the ingredients you need to make a temptingly tasty Roasted Tomato Soup and captured them in her lino print recipe tea towel.
The large print is made of individual ‘ingredient’ linocut prints which, combined together, make this complete easy-to-follow recipe – the ideal start to your Valentine’s night celebrations!
Tomatoes are, of course, the stars of the show along with onions, carrots, celery, peppers, garlic, parsley, olive oil and of course a pot to put it in are captured in sumptuous shades of ruby red.

Artist and designer Kate Guy has combined her love of printmaking with a love of food and cooking to create a range of signature homewares featuring the strong graphic qualities of lino-cut and screen printing.
Taking as her ethos for the business the quote by William Morris “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful”, Kate has created her ‘Regional Recipes’ and ‘Simple Soups’ series of illustrated recipes which are then transferred to textile and graphic designs on a range of items for the kitchen and home.
Drawing on influences from her home in North West London and the Languedoc region of South West France which she visits regularly, Kate’s key inspiration is from food and the kitchen;
“I feel that the kitchen is the true heart of the home and the smells and tastes that can be found in this social hub are prominent in my work.”
“Each design begins as a drawing inspired by my surroundings, I work in a sketchbook, keeping it as a visual diary and I also take lots of photographs. I use these as inspiration for my prints; I create linocut blocks which I hand-print, and sometimes paint with watercolour. These prints are then further developed into a range of themed kitchenware, prints and stationery.”

In one unique personalised gift, it is both a moment of chocolate indulgence and a memory that can be treasured forever.
Inspired by news of packaging waste’s impact on the environment, we recognised our own role and wondered what we could do to reduce our footprint on the planet. Whist our boxes are recyclable, ultimately they are still being disposed of immediately after use. We asked ourselves, could they have a second use? Limited-edition teddy bear to mark 90th anniversary milestone

Coeur de Neufchâtel PDO* (£7.50/ 200g) – Hand-picked for its unique flavour and superb quality, this heart shaped delicious artisan cheese dates back over 1,000 years to 1035 when Hugues I of Gournay gave it to the Abbey of Sigy as a tithe. During the Hundred Years War, legend tells that local girls from Neufchâtel-en-Bray offered the cheese to English soldiers, who thought that the cheese tasted like heaven and that the bloomy white cheeses, shaped like a heart, were angel wings. This makes it the perfect cheese for romantics to enjoy on Valentine’s Day. This smooth, creamy artisan cheese is made from unpasteurised cow’s milk, in upper Normandy, France, and takes its name from the town where it is made, Neufchâtel. Similar to Camembert in texture and taste, it has a richer flavour with a hint of mushrooms and a soft white velvety rind. It is the oldest cheese to be made in Normandy and since 1977 it has been a protected cheese, being given the Protected Designated Origin (PDO) status.
